I was a Girl Scout for 10 years, going up through high school, so it's really fun to see you guys talk about things that I had to sell for so long. Stephen saying the Trefoils are boring is SO ACCURATE; those were very difficult to sell.
In addition, the weird plastic packaging for a couple of the varieties I agree is extremely frustrating. When putting them on a display they always looked bizarre, when you open them they are impossible to keep from getting stale, etc. I had a lot of good memories in GS but selling cookies was not for me. It feels so good to trash on specific varieties now that I am no longer bounded down by my overlords to push EVERY SINGLE COOKIE TO EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER. Anyway, uh, Thin Mints are boring as hell, and now that I've sufficiently set the world on fire by saying that, I take my leave.

I’m team delites/samoas! I was also briefly in girl scouts, and I can vividly remember my first time selling cookies door to door because of this one guy. This old man who came to answer the door and in his most deadpan, grumpiest tone, said, “I don’t want any cookies.” My experience with old people up to that point, as a 7-year-old(I think?), had been overwhelmingly positive. Old people love to joke, I thought, so I immediately started laughing. The guy just kept glaring at me. I went cold with dread. Oh. He isn’t joking. I need to run away now.
17 years later and I currently work in customer service. Wild, huh? 7-year-old me would be shocked and terrified. I’m gonna choose to see that as character development.

(Long comment, I apologize in advance)
Girl Scout Cookies I Have Had/Have Heard Of:
    1. Thin Mints - Great cookie, especially good cold
    2. I’ve heard of Trefoils before but as far as I remember I have never tried them, I’m not the biggest fan of shortbread cookies but I’d be willing to try one to see if I’d like these particular versions or not.
    3. Caramel Delights/Samoas - My Favorite Girl Scout Cookie, and this is coming from someone who does not usually like the texture of coconut, they’re just so good; I hardly even notice the coconut part. 🤤
    4. The Peanut Butter Patties/ Tagalongs: I’ve definitely had these before but it’s been so I long that I can’t remember what they taste like exactly, I’m sure they’re good though; I tend to like peanut butter so I’m sure these are good.
I’ve never hear of Toast-Yay cookies before but you guys did say they were new so maybe that’s why, either way I’d being willing to try one; French inspired toast cookies sound interesting.
I’ve also never heard of Adventurefuls and after Mal described them I am sad that I haven’t, they do sound delicious; though you both seemed disappointed by them so I can’t help but wonder if I’d like them after all, especially if they’re not soft… soft cookies are great.

Yeah, people get weirdly angry about other people's Opinions on Girl Scout cookies, I remember a few years ago I tried to do a comprehensive Tumblr post on the difference between ABC and LBB and I was *very opinionated* on the thin mints and called them "hell discs" and said, and I quote, "Hey, you wanna eat chocolate-covered toothpaste?! Well HERE YOU GO" ... People did not take kindly to my dissing of thin mints XD

I'm basically the same as Stephen's list but I'd flip around Samoas and Tagalongs and then the Trefoils and Thin Mints.
I don't mind Thin Mints but I prefer the other cookies more.
Samoas have always been my favorite; even as a kid I liked coconut flavor stuff.
Tagalongs are a very close second as I love peanut butter cookies and Reese's type candies (as long as it's not the huge Reese's Easter Bunny thing; that's way too much for me). There's another peanut butter Girl Scout Cookie called Do-si-dos that I always liked too.
Never had Adventurefuls and Toast-Yays but I think I'd probably feel the same way Stephen would about them.

Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs are my favorite also, but I also love Do-Si-Dos/Peanut Butter Sandwich cookies, as well as Little Brownie's version of S'mores cookies.
Where I live, it seems that Girl Scout Cookies _used_ to be made by ABC, but now they're made by Little Brownie instead (for instance, what we now call Tagalongs _used_ to be called Peanut Butter Patties when I was growing up, and I never knew why. Learn something new every day, I guess!)

My favorite cookie they don't even make anymore, it was called "friendship circles" and they were two crunchy vanilla cookies with chocolate in between kinda like an Oreo. It also had the word "friend" on it and the word was sometimes in different languages. But other than that I was obsessed with peanut butter patties as a kid but as an adult I like shortbread. My most despised is the caramel deLites on account of me as a kid mistaking one as the Keebler cookie: fudge stripes only to find that it was coconut.

A loooong time ago, there was a type of Girl Scout cookie called the Lemon Coolers, and they were my favorites. I believe they were shortbread cookies in the shape of lemon wedges, and covered in powered sugar. Like Thin Mints, you could let these cookies chill, and they were soooo much better than at room temp
I still kinda miss them, though I'd probably not be able to eat them anymore, anyway, after learning of my own food allergies to nuts. Gotta be careful about cross-contamination and all that

I've always been a thin mint person. My mom LOVES do-si-dos or however u spell em. The peanut butter sandwich cookies. God. We always buy here like 20 boxes and store em in the freezer so she can eat them over the year. And she had the audacity to ask me at the end of last year "Huh, I guess I really like peanut butter"

It was like the Toast-yay but it was a smaller oval with chocolate on the back instead of icing, I don’t remember what they were called. Otherwise I like the Trefoils and Tagalongs, but would prefer Somoas if given the option. I am not a mint guy so Thin Mints just aren’t for me. I decided to revisit this vlog because my family just got Girl Scout cookies and I didn’t remember commenting this lol. Anyway, I finally just tried the Toast-yay. It’s pretty good, not a favorite but I would choose it above other GS cookies for sure (glares at Thin Mints). Also, seeing this comment again made me look up the discontinued cookie that was a childhood favorite. They were called All Abouts. I hope they bring those back someday.

I would say my top three, in no particular order, are Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs. Do-si-dos are also good, and Savannah Smiles are alright. I don't think I've actually tried the other three you taste-tested in this video before. Of those, I've only seen Trefoils, but never bought them because the others are so much more enticing to me.

I personally like Trefoils best, followed up by tagalongs, thin mints, and the lemon wedge cookies they used to have that were powdered sugar covered ( i think they were called lemon coolers or something?). What gets me is the way you two pronounce trefoils with the soft tre like the word 3. My family and I, and most of the people I've been around here in the very northeastern part of the midwest pronounce it as tree-foils.

  • @riccaby

Thin Mints are easily my favorite, I love the chocolate/mint combo in any form and Thin Mints are honestly probably my favorite version of it, but I'm not upset at the rankings. Taste is all subjective, who cares.
Love the Tagalongs, those are my second favorite, and Trefoils are good but I'm not enough of a fan of shortbread cookies to get them over something like Lorna Doones or any other shortbread cookie. I really don't like coconut so Samoas just aren't for me, although I can appreciate their complexity.
I'm curious to try the Toast-Yay now, it sounds like something I would enjoy.

I've always liked the tagalongs the most but you don't get that much bang for your buck since there are so few in each box. I whenever I get girl scout cookies I usually buy a box of either thin mints or samoas and then a box of tagalongs.

Mine is the same as Mal's, but I can eat Tagalongs and they are the best.

Peanut butter sandwich cookies are definitely my favorite. Followed by thin mints, and thanks a lots.

Hard cookies are definitely a more "eat/dunk this in coffee" kind of thing. At least for me

Is this perhaps, potentially, one of the more controversial vlogs ever posted on StephenVlog? Even more so than the "We Support The Gays" vlog (because that shouldn't even be controversial but, you know, here we are)? 😂 As a Swede, I've never had girl scout cookies so I can't weigh in here. But uh, I like cookies.

I’ve never had Girl Scout cookies plus i had never even heard of Girl Scouts before at least not where I grew up

I honestly ate way too many peanut butter patties as a kid, because in my head they were just bigger reeses. So anytime we got Girl Scout cookies I always asked for like a box or two of them

coconut makes me sick if i eat too much. my stomach just turns lmao
so does white chocolate...more than a nibble..my stomach turns.
The coconut thing sucks because I do not like milk so when i was cereal i go for alternative milks. but turns out soy, oat and almond are all pretty bad for you and they recommend coconut milk...jokes on me I guess. 'cause I did try and it makes me sick after a standard bowl of cereal.
I'm Canadian and I'm sure we have some of these but it's called girl guides instead of girl scouts. i know we have thin mints and samoas. no idea what else they offer. never been one to partake in their yearly marketing campaigns. I'm such a witch when it comes to door to door people. This is why I live in a tower now and no one likes my stairs to get into my apartment so everyone leaves me alone haha
